Nakia Resort & Dive

Tropical rainforests with rare native birds and spectacular waterfalls … pristine beaches … and world-class coral reefs await you at Nakia Resort & Dive, Fiji.

Intimate and family-owned, Nakia is the only eco resort on Taveuni Island; Trip Advisor’s top-rated resort in Fiji; and consistently rated in Trip Advisor’s top five in the entire South Pacific, among more than 12,000 resorts and hotels!

Nakia Resort & Dive, Fiji

Nakia also is the only resort on Taveuni with family-operated diving, snorkeling and adventure programs. Through Taveuni Ocean Sports at Nakia, the owners’ daughter Julie and partner Aaron together with local divemasters, offer the most comprehensive diving program available on the island, serving first–time divers through divers seeking Advanced Open Water PADI certification.

Taveuni Ocean Sports at Nakia also offers snorkeling, surfing and boating, using a meticulously maintained 10–meter (34–foot) custom aluminum dive catamaran. After a full day, guests may relax at Nakia’s lavish 12–meter (40–foot) fresh–water swimming pool – the largest on Taveuni Island – and enjoy fresh organic food at Nakia’s fine Cliffhouse Restaurant.

As an eco resort, Nakia offers a comfortable and relaxing environment using the sustainable, natural energy of the sun, wind, and water. The resort’s water is from artesian springs and fresh organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers grow year-round on site. This combination of sustainable features is unique among Fiji resorts.

View our Fiji vacation packages and map of Fiji, then make Nakia – Trip Advisor’s top-rated resort in Fiji – your home for adventure travel and relaxation during your Fiji vacation, wedding or honeymoon. We look forward to hosting you at the best family–operated eco dive resort in the South Pacific!

Nakia Resort & Dive, FijiWe developed Nakia Resort & Dive for guests to experience Fiji’s natural beauty and culture in comfort while treading lightly on the Earth.

Building the resort and adjacent organic farm business, Taveuni Organic Produce, has been a significant journey for our family.

As expatriates in Fiji, we are immersed in a completely different culture – one that places little value on materialism. Living here has helped us reevaluate what is most important in our lives.

We have lived in Fiji since 2002, after moving from northern California where we raised our children, Julie and James. We work closely with our excellent, friendly staff to ensure that your stay exceeds your expectations. This might include your wedding, honeymoon, activity-filled vacation or a peaceful time to rest. We and our staff look forward to introducing guests to the people and splendid natural resources on this remarkable island.

Nakia is the only resort on Taveuni with family-operated diving, snorkeling and adventures programs. Through Taveuni Ocean Sports at Nakia, we offer courses and recreational diving for first-time divers through Advanced Open Water PADI certification courses.

Between us, we have had the pleasure of owning and operating two successful scuba companies in the Hawaiian Islands over the past 12 years, and we are proud of our perfect safety record. We recently sold our Hawaiian companies, achieving our dream of relocating to Taveuni, which hosts the best diving and the best people in the world.

We are family owned and operated and we truly love to dive. We are passionate about providing the most educational, safe, and thorough dive experience available on Taveuni.

Welcome to The Great Fiji Shark Count !

Throughout the months of April and November every year, you have the opportunity to help celebrate and record Fiji’s amazing coral reef biodiversity, show you care about our world’s delicate coral reef systems, and have fun, by taking part in the FIJI-WIDE SHARK COUNT!

Easy to do, this is suitable for visitors and locals alike, whether you like to fish, snorkel, or SCUBA dive. We hope that tourists, school children, scientists and all people with an interest in the marine environment will take to the reefs with us to search for the Sharks of Fiji!

The Great Fiji Shark Count will be held across Fiji every April and November every year.

You can do a single count, or take part as many times as you like during that month, so that you cover different reefs. All data will be gratefully accepted!

So, see your resort, watersports operator or travel agent, get your Shark identification materials and dive into the beautiful blue waters of Fiji, to be a part of history!
